About Me

Hello! My name is dbnet18, but I also go by DB or Dan. I am 20 and I make music for a variety of projects!

My passion with music started when I was young. My dad played guitar and my mom played cavaquinho (A traditional Portuguese instrument). They were always practicing music around the house and if they weren't playing it, they were listening to it on our big CD player (It was one of those huge 6 cd changers with the speaker set and subwoofer; an absolute beaut!).

I started composing my own music when I was in middle school where I would use an old demo of FL Studio 5.2 on a hand-me-down Dell Tower PC running Windows XP SP3. I would spend hours and hours learning how to make dance and electronic music, saving them as midi files to get around the no saving feature of FL Studio's demos. Eventually, I was able to get my very own copy of FL Studio 9 when I was 15, and that's when I learned about the webcomic Homestuck.

I started reading Homestuck and got so enthralled into it's story that I started to learn how to make music that would fit this fictional world. Being inspired by artists like Toby Fox, Hiroki Kikuta, Keiichi Suzuki, ZUN, and many others, I developed my own sense of musical style. In 2016 I joined Act 8 to publish my first ever song to the internet. It sucked. I was 16 and didn't know what I was doing. But someone whom I worked with on Act 8 seemed to enjoy my work.

I was contacted by Austinado, creator of Vast Error, who wanted to assemble a music team for the comic. I said yes and have made music for that project ever since! Along the way I have done music for Act Omega, Oceanfalls, Cool and New Webcomic, and many others that I can't remember. Nowadays, I stick to those projects plus whatever small ideas I come up with and mostly put them on my Soundcloud and Youtube.
